Mortus the Ninth was the Cavalier Primary to The Reverend Father, Priamhark Noniusvianus. Unremarkable for anything other than his size, Mortus was a loyal and devoted cavalier to the House of the Ninth.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

When Harrowhark was ten, she opened the Locked Tomb. Seeing this, and knowing it to be wrong, Gideon Nav informed the Reverend Father and Mother, Priamhark and Pelleamena, and their cavalier, Mortus. Believing her to have betrayed God, Priamhark, Pelleamena, and Mortus hanged themselves in shame and fear. Due to his immense size, Mortus required two nooses.

Appearance and Personality[]

Gideon describes Mortus as thus:

"[Ortus's] father --cavalier to Harrow's father-- had been an enormous, stony man of some gravity and devotion, with a sword and two huge panniers of fibulae." [1]

Very little is known about the personality of Mortus the Ninth. Described as loyal and unquestioning, he seems to have been a good cavalier and a beloved husband.

Powers & Abilities[]

  • Physical Strength: A solid, large man, Mortus possesses a strength more geared towards lifting/hauling than fighting.[2]
  • Swordsman: Mortus is trained as a swordsman, though likely not with any exceptional skill.[2]

Possessions[]

  • Sword
  • Panniers: Mortus carried two pannier full of bone (fibulae) for his necromancer, Priamhark, to use.[2]

Relationships[]

Sister Glaurica[]

Though Sister Glaurica clearly loved her husband dearly, Mortus chose his loyalty to his necromancer over a life with his wife and son.
